Q: It is reported that there were Chinese casualties in a car bomb attack in the port city of Gwadar, Pakistan. Could you confirm it?

A: On the morning on May 3rd , an unmanned car exploded when a bus with 12 Chinese engineers drove by. The Chinese were from the First Navigation Planning and Project Exploration Institute attached to the Chinese Ministry of Communication. The bus was damaged seriously. Up to now, three Chinese engineers lost their lives and the others were injured, four of them seriously.

The Chinese Government attaches great importance to the incident. Upon learning of it, the Chinese Foreign Ministry immediately requested the Pakistani side to take all possible measures to rescue the injured Chinese engineers and probe into the tragedy. At the same time, the Ministry instructed the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and the Consulate General in Karachi to spare no effort in the rescue.
